FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - A coffee shop, cider company and a restaurant that closed its doors during the pandemic are among the merchants who will help launch the Union Street Market at Electric Works.

The company behind the redevelopment of the former General Electric property released a list of six food and beverage commitments on Thursday. They are:

  • Conjure Coffee
  • Lunar Infusions
  • Deli on Main
  • Kekionga Craft Cider Company
  • Bird and Cleaver
  • Good Riddance! Gluten-Free Bakery

“These six merchants reflect exactly what we are seeking: talented local producers of innovative foods and beverages who understand the magic that happens when independent businesses come together in a market setting,” said Ted Spitzer, Union Street Market’s director of planning & development. “The range of products they represent – from breads and pastries baked in the Market to hand-crafted ciders and kombucha to innovative dining options – exemplify the rapidly developing food scene in Fort Wayne and the blossoming of creative food businesses.”

The food venue is expected to host 25 merchants when it is filled. It will also be the year-round home of the Fort Wayne Farmers Market.

Conjure Coffee was an early commitment to Electric Works, having signaled its plans in 2019, while the effort was still in its early stages.

Kekionga Craft Company was founded in 2016 as a locally-based cider specialist, while Lunar Infusions focuses on kombucha and is based in South Whitley.

Good Riddance! has operated as a home-based business. Electric Works will be home to its first dedicated property.

The revival of Bird and Cleaver is likely to generate significant interest. The trendy restaurant on Wells Street closed in late 2020, though its owners have deployed a food truck since that closure.

And Deli on Main will expand across the border, from its original location in Van Wert, Ohio.
