Major outage affecting Comcast Xfinity service

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - A widespread internet service disruption is affecting 21Country -- and other parts of the country, too.

The outage appeared to center on the Comcast Xfinity network, with customers reporting loss of service in cities across the nation.

That includes at least portions of Indiana.

Some schools, businesses, and government agencies were sending text messages to stakeholders to advise them of the problem.

Fort Wayne’s NBC was among those who were disconnected Tuesday morning -- a loss of internet and digital phone service for several hours.

Both were back online shortly after 9 a.m.

As of mid-morning, the company had not provided an explanation of what was causing the disruption.
