FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - The 2021 “Coats for Kids” drive shifted into high gear on Wednesday with the official launch event at MLK Montessori School on South Anthony Blvd.

Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry, leaders from the Volunteer Center and others from across the community gathered to encourage the public to help ensure that local children stay warm this winter.

Collection bins have already been placed across northeast Indiana. Donors are asked to bring a new or gently worn winter coat to the following drop-off sites, from which they will be collected, sorted and distributed. The drop-off sites are:

  • The Volunteer Center (3401 Lake Ave. - Suite 4)
  • Peerless Cleaners
  • YMCA locations in Allen, Wells and Huntington counties
  • Sweetwater
  • Darlington Holiday Warehouse
  • Parkview Ortho Hospital

Collections will continue through Nov. 30. Monetary contributions can be made online at VolunteerFortWayne.org. That website also includes information on how a child can participate in this year’s program.

Fort Wayne’s NBC is proud to once again sponsor the “Coats for Kids” drive.
