FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Tuesday is the first of six “free skate days” at the Headwaters Park ice rink.

Children under the age of 14 can skate for free with their own skates, or rent a pair for $3, with the actual admission fee waived. Old National Bank is sponsoring the season’s six free days, which fall on Nov. 30, Dec. 14, Jan. 4, Jan. 18, Feb. 1 and Feb. 15.

The rink is currently open from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon until 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and noon until 8 p.m. on Sunday. Extended “holiday hours” begin on Dec. 17.

Skaters are encouraged to wear a mask or face covering on the ice and social distance as much as possible, on the rink and as they line up to the rink. Face masks are optional but encouraged by the Allen County Board of Health.
