FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Notre Dame Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick addressed the media less than 24 hours after the news broke about Brian Kelly leaving Notre Dame for a new opportunity to become LSU’s head football coach.

The move was not only shocking but also very abrupt as the all-time winningest coach in the school’s history decided to part ways with the program after leading the charge for 12 years. Most recently, Kelly led the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to a 11-1 record, where the Irish found themselves yet again knocking on the door to perhaps another playoff appearance.

LSU announced Tuesday that Brian Kelly singed a 10-year, $95 million contract. Meanwhile, Swarbrick during Tuesday’s press conference said he was not “surprised” about Kelly’s decision to head down south and will soon begin a search for the right candidate for the Notre Dame coaching vacancy.
