Former Huntington coach, accused of kidnapping and child seduction, files plea agreement

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - A former Huntington University coach that was charged with four felonies including kidnapping and child seduction in December 2020, filed a plea agreement in the Huntington Circuit Court last week.

Court documents show that Nicholas Johnson, 34, wants to plead guilty to identity deception in exchange that the state drops a child seduction and kidnapping charge. The state had already dismissed one child seduction charge, according to the documents.

If the judge accepts the plea agreement, Johnson could be sentenced between six months and 2 ½ years.

Johnson was accused of establishing a relationship with a teenage girl by using an assumed name in July 2020.

A hearing to determine if the court will accept the plea agreement is set for Feb. 7.
