FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Tapestry, a signature annual event in Fort Wayne, is being postponed this year as organizers plan for a 2023 return.

Organizers said in a release Tuesday morning that the event, originally scheduled for April 29, was called off due to the spike in both local and national COVID-19 cases. Smaller activities for this year’s event are being considered and will be released when they’re finalized, planners say.

“Prioritizing what’s in the best interest of those participating in every aspect of the event, we’ve made the tough decision to refocus our efforts to a strong and healthy return in April 2023,” Kim Boyce, Tapestry project manager said. “Throughout its months-long planning process, the safety of our community has remained the number one consideration of our steering committee. We share in our supporters’ disappointment, but are optimistic for the days ahead.”

Organizers say they consulted with various key colleagues including local healthcare professionals when deciding whether or not to cancel the event. They say plans are already in the works to have the event return with its on-site experiences in the spring of 2023.

Tapestry planners say they are developing refund and donation options for those who have already purchased tickets or sponsorships for the 2022 event. Throughout February, they say Tapestry personnel will reach out directly to all those impacted by this change.
