FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Ohio police say they are investigating after a 29-year-old man was found dead in a Paulding County cemetery on Tuesday.

Officers say at 2:20 p.m., they were dispatched to the Sherman Cemetery for a deceased male body that was discovered in the western portion of the cemetery. On Wednesday, investigators identified the man as 29-year-old Jared J. Hernandez from Defiance, Ohio.

“Officials did not rule on a cause of death today after the autopsy. They will await the findings of the toxicology testing before coming to a conclusion, which could be several months,” Sheriff Jason K. Landers said. “We will continue to talk with family, friends and associates of Jared, and follow any leads that come into the office. He did not die at the scene. We need answers as to where and why he died and who put him there.”

Police ask that anyone that has information to assist investigators with this case please contact the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office at 419-399-3791. They say you can also leave information via Facebook or at www.pauldingohsheriff.com and leave an e-mail for the Sheriff.
