Hassell III smashes go-ahead, 5-3, home run in TinCaps home-opening victory

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - San Diego Padres top outfield prospect Robert Hassell III sent Fort Wayne TinCaps home happy, smashing a go-ahead two-run home run, leading the TinCaps to a, 5-3, victory over the South Bend Cubs on Tuesday night’s regular season home opener.
After powering his way to four home runs in just 78 at-bats with the TinCaps last season, Hassell III is halfway to that mark in just four games played through 2022, hitting an additional home run on Sunday.
The TinCaps host the Cubs all week at Parkview Field. They return for another 6:35 p.m. first pitch on Wednesday night.
