Homicide Investigation: Fort Wayne police discover body in wooded area
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Fort Wayne police are investigating a homicide.
Around 7:20 Thursday evening, crews were called out to the corner of Birchwood Avenue and McCormick Avenue.
Police say a person was walking in the woods when they discovered the body.
That bystander notified the authorities right away.
When police got there, they found a man lying in the woods. He was pronounced dead.
The victim had injuries to his chest but police don’t yet know the cause.
They have identified the victim as a 63-year-old man. However, they’re not releasing his name until the family is notified of his death.
The investigation is being held by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Coroners Office, and the Allen County Prosecutors Office. The police are asking for neighbors to review their home video surveillance footage and call police if there is any information that might assist in the investigation.
