Goodies with Grace: Quiche Lorraine

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Grace Kelly May of GK Baked Goods is back with the Fort Wayne’s NBC TODAY team, this time with a signature breakfast favorite: Quiche Lorraine.

Watch as Grace shares her recipe in making a delicious, flaky quiche that’s surprisingly easy to make.

Quiche Lorraine
1 pie crust
6-8 slices of bacon, chopped
2 shallots, diced
1 1/4 cup gruyere cheese or swiss cheese, shredded
1 3/4c half and half
4 eggs
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
Line a pie pan with your favorite pie dough recipe. You will want to spray the pan prior to lining to help prevent your quiche from sticking. You can always use a frozen pie crust if in a hurry! Chop the bacon and place in a pan to saute over medium heat. Cook until bacon is to your desired doneness. Once cooked throughout remove bacon and cook the diced shallots until they become translucent then remove from the pan. Take your bacon, shallots and shredded gruyere and place into your pie shell. In a bowl combine eggs, half and half, salt and pepper. Whisk until all ingredients are incorporated and smooth in consistency.
Pour the egg base into the pie shell, covering the prepared ingredients being careful not to overfill. Bake at 350 for 40-50 minutes or until the center of your quiche slightly souffles, the center is set and reaches a deep golden brown color. Serve warm and enjoy!
