FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Dave Darland, legendary sprint car racer, made a triumphant return to Gas City Speed Way after suffering a mild stroke in 2021.

The 2017 National Sprint Car Hall of Famer inductee is a decorated sprint car driver, who currently stands as a USAC Triple Crown Champion.

In typical spectacular fashion, Darland made his way to the podium for the first time in 2022, speeding to a third place finish at Gas City Speed Way this past weekend.

Friday’s race marked the third time Darland raced competitively in a sprint car in the past year-and-a-half.

A week prior to finishing third at Gas City Speeed Way, the sprint car legend claimed sixth place at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Indiana.
