Sentencing delayed for stepmother in 9-year-old’s death

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - The sentencing for Alesha Miller, the stepmother who pled guilty in April to aggravated battery and two counts of neglect of a dependent, scheduled for Tuesday, has been delayed until December 2, 2022.

Miller could be sentenced to a total of 30 years.

Alesha Miller was arrested on December 22, 2021, and charged with aggravated battery resulting in death, neglect of a dependent resulting in death, and two counts of neglect of a dependent, all felonies.

In the fatal beating case, Alesha Miller’s spouse, Jenna Miller, was also charged with four felony counts, including neglect of a dependent resulting in death. Jenna Miller’s trial, originally scheduled to begin on May 17, 2022, has been rescheduled for four days on November 29, 2022.
