FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Attempted murder charges have been filed in a shooting that happened last week.

A probable cause says that a man walked into the Parkview Randallia Hospital, just before 7 p.m., on May 24, 2022, with a gunshot wound to his groin. The victim told officers he was shot in the apartments off of Cold Springs Boulevard.

The document says witnesses told investigators the victim got into a verbal argument with Quejuance Stewart, 25, in the parking lot. Stewart began to shoot from handguns in both hands, witnesses said. When questioned, Stewart told investigators that the victim started shooting first.

Investigators said earlier on the day of the shooting, Stewart, who was recently released from prison, went with two others and purchased a gun. The woman, who had also purchased a gun on May 17, reported both guns stolen on May 25, 2022.

Police were able to identify Stewart from Facebook profile photos that witnesses confirmed him as the shooter. The probable cause says Stewart was arrested on May 25. When officers conducted a sweep of the car Stewart was in, police found the two guns the woman had reported stolen, along with two rifles in the trunk.

Stewart is scheduled to appear in court for his initial hearing on Monday, June 6, 2022.
