FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - The Eastside Blazers claimed the school’s second softball state title, after taking down North Posey, 2-1, in Saturday’s Class 2A state championship clash.

The Blazers scored first in the bottom of the third inning with a squeeze bunt by Jayci Kitchen. One inning later, Grace Kreisher followed suit by laying down a bunt that propelled Eastside to a, 2-0, lead over North Posey after 4 innings.

The Vikings responded in the top of the seventh, making it a one-run ball game after scoring a run. North Posey attempted to make one final push with the game-tying run on second, but Natalie Lower canceled any chance making the final out at first.

The Blazers finish their season 29-1 overall, while Saturday’s victory marked the first time in 24 years that the program would bring a state title back to Butler.
