Coroner: April death of Fort Wayne woman ruled a homicide

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - The Allen County Coroner’s office says a 57-year-old Fort Wayne woman died in April after a fight that ended with a person sitting on her.

Around 10:15 p.m. on April 25, Teresa Reann Pratt got into a fight with another person who held Pratt down by sitting on her, the coroner’s office said. Pratt became unconscious and an EMS was called to the scene in the 8900 block of Center Street. Pratt was taken to a local hospital where she died a short time later.

The coroner’s office says Pratt’s cause of death was mechanical/traumatic asphyxia due to chest compression, after an autopsy. Pratt’s cause of death has been ruled a homicide by the Allen County Coroner’s office.

Pratt is the 14th homicide in Allen County in 2022.
