HUNTINGTON, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - The Huntington County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a motorcyclist they say is a danger because of his actions.

Police say in a Facebook post that Charles Benfer has active warrants for resisting and multiple other charges have been filed for his recent behavior.

Officers have tried to stop Benfer while he is on his motorcycle, the post says, which ends up in a pursuit at dangerously high speeds and Benfer taunting police.

Police say Benfer also discharged his weapon inside the city limits recently.

Because of those actions, police consider Benfer armed and dangerous not only to public safety officers but to the general public. The Facebook post says The Huntington County Sheriff’s Department, Huntington City Police, State Police, and the U.S. Marshals Office are now investigating.

Benfer has no known address, police said.

Anyone with information about Benfer is asked to contact the Huntington County Sheriff at 260-356-8316 or the Huntington Police Department at 260-356-7110.
