FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Summer-like weather is hanging around for the rest of the weekend, but some changes are on the way.

Saturday evening will stay dry and partly cloudy. Temperatures will drop pretty quickly through the 70s by sunset. Overnight temperatures will bottom out in the low 60s.

One or two weather models show some isolated rain showers are possible pre-sunrise, but we should stay mostly dry for Sunday morning and for the rest of the day. Expect a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day with some periods having more sun than clouds. Temperatures on Sunday afternoon will max out in the mid 80s.

Overnight Sunday and into Monday morning is when we’ve got our next chance for rain and maybe some thunderstorms. The NWS Storm Prediction Center has almost everyone in our area under a level 1 of 5 risk for severe storms (5 being the highest). If a thunderstorm does turn severe, the primary threat will be strong winds.

Rain should clear the area by about lunchtime on Monday. Temperatures will drop into the low 80s in the afternoon.

We hang on to the 80+ degree highs until mid-week, along with low rain chances right now, but most should stay dry. Then, it looks like we’ll get another taste of Fall. We’re starting to see a consensus among weather models that a shot of cold air will move in on Thursday, lasting until at least the first half of the weekend with high temperatures in the low 70s, upper 60s for some.
