FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Indiana State Police (ISP) says an Angola man has been arrested and charged with residential entry, resisting law enforcement, and disorderly conduct after the man allegedly tried to break into a state trooper’s house.

ISP says just before 8 p.m. Wednesday, troopers from the Fort Wayne Post and deputies from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department were called to the 4600 block of West Nevada Mills Road for a residential disturbance. The caller told dispatchers that an off-duty Indiana State Trooper, George Youpel, was involved in a physical altercation with a man that allegedly tried to break into the trooper’s home.

ISP says a neighbor saw the suspect, Joshua Ray Enos, 25, breaking several bedroom windows. Police say when the neighbor challenged Enos verbally, Enos became physically aggressive, and Trooper Youpel came out of the house to protect his neighbor. Allegedly, Enos became combative with Trooper Youpel and a physical fight between the two began. Indiana State Police detectives arrived on the scene and took over the investigation.

Police say Enos was taken to Cameron Hospital for a medical evaluation and then transported to the Steuben County Jail.
