FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - The warm air of the weekend will be replaced with much colder weather to start the work week and we could experience our first snowflakes of the season at that time as well.

Overnight, temperatures will drop into the mid 30s by Monday morning. Winds will be brisk, so the wind chill on Monday morning will be in the mid 20s. So, the coats and sweaters will likely be needed.

During the day on Monday, we’ll see some scattered rain showers develop, most likely starting in the afternoon. Temperatures will on be in the mid 40s for the high.

During the evening, we’ll see a few snowflakes start to mix in with the rain. That’s because above the surface, the temperatures will be below freezing, allowing the snowflakes to stay frozen until getting into the warm layer. This will continue overnight and into Tuesday morning as temperatures fall to the low 30s on Tuesday.

Thanks to the warm ground, we’re anticipating minimal, if any, snow accumulation. Any snow flurries will transition back into rain on Tuesday afternoon as we spend another day in the 40s.

Temperatures will start to warm up after the system moves out on early Wednesday and we’ll see a return of 70 degree weather within the next 7 days!
