Tom Powell

Tom Powell is a well-respected newsroom leader with more than 20 years of experience in television news. His work as a journalist has been recognized with two regional Emmy awards and a regional Murrow award. He is currently the News Director at WPTA. Before anchoring and reporting for ABC21, Tom anchored Fort Wayne's NBC News at 5, 6, and 11 with broadcast veteran Linda Jackson.

Tom took his first reporting job in Sioux Falls after graduating from the University of Illinois. He then spent eight years as a general assignment reporter at WREG in Memphis and five years as an anchor at WSJV in South Bend.

The Fort Wayne City Council voted 5-1 in favor of a resolution Tuesday that establishes its wish to “pursue an investigation” into Red River, the garbage collection company that recently filed for bankruptcy.
